Toronto Blue Jays Secure Fall Classic Meeting Against the Dodgers

George Springer celebrating

George Springer contributed to the Houston Astros winning the championship in 2017.

Toronto's Blue Jays reached their initial Fall Classic since 1993 by defeating the Mariners in the seventh Game 7 of the AL Championship Series.

Trailing by two runs, Springer hit a three-run home run in the seventh frame, guiding the Toronto squad in the majors to a four games to three victory in the seven-game series. Next up are the Dodgers, holders of the current crown, in the forthcoming championship.

"It's incredible for our team, the city, Canada," commented Springer, a key player of the Houston Astros team that secured the 2017 title. "It's truly an amazing experience."

Springer has now connected for 23 October home runs, making him third all-time behind Manny Ramirez (twenty-nine) and Jose Altuve (27).

"I can't think of another person in the world that I want up in that spot besides George Springer with his playoff prowess," noted Schneider.

Seattle, who had led the early in the series, are still the only MLB franchise never to appear in a Fall Classic.

Mariners manager Dan Wilson stated "certainly that it hurts" in the wake of his side's defeat at Toronto's Rogers Centre, but applauded their work throughout the year.

"They're an exceptional squad. Sadly that we finished on the unsuccessful side of this one," he remarked.

The Blue Jays claimed the championship on each of their earlier trips in the early 90s, and will welcome the Dodgers in the first game on Friday.
