From the very beginning of Campaign 4, recently appointed game master Brennan Mulligan has kept fans guessing with deep backstory, a wide array of characters, and a exciting storyline featuring divine entities, fiends, and sinister influences increasing in strength within the city.
Warning: Key plot points for the latest installment of this adventure are included.
The Soldiers Table Unveiled
Episode 3 finished on a huge suspense moment and presented the first table of heroes who will split off from the main group to embark on their own adventure, apart from the remaining groups.
The Soldiers table consists of the determined fighter (brought to life by Travis), the nimble rogue (Laura Bailey), the strong-willed figure (Whitney), the cleric (Sam), and Kattigan (Robbie).
Dividing the Cast
Given 13 cast members, it was evident from the beginning that maintaining everyone at the same party would be unfeasible.
This explains, the opening chapters of the new season serve as an Prelude, connecting the characters’ stories before dividing into three distinct groups: Fighters, Schemers, and Seekers.
Characteristics of the Warrior Group
As described by the Dungeon Master, the warrior group is for adventurers who enjoy a typically action-packed combat and conflict-driven narrative style where diplomatic options are few and far between.
Upon first impression, figures such as the reluctant priest Wicander might appear out of place, but the developments of the latest installment show why these particular heroes are best suited for the warrior group.
Reasons to Leave
For one thing, the team has a clear idea where to go next after a violent opening clash with the enemy group.
An old friend of Thjazi—whose passing started the narrative’s action—used The Crow Keepers for his own means, invading the secret base, assaulting Thimble, and stealing all the enchanted items to dispose of.
Casimir then cleared his debts and ran away to a secure base in the remote area, beyond Dol-Makjar, with Cyd Pridesire close behind.
Individual Reasons
Additionally, each character has a specific drive to exit the metropolitan area:
- The agile hero, as Thjazi’s partner and trusted friend, desires retribution.
- The knowledgeable figure knows the region and cautions that it is a nasty location.
- The strong character and Wicander, having disobeyed his relatives’ demands to kill Teor and instead rescued him, have no safe haven.
- However, their reputation as prominent individuals in the influential clan could help the group enter places they typically wouldn’t be able to.
- Additionally, The fighter swore a unbreakable promise to The cleric for his deliverance and will now follow him wherever.
Pursued by Authorities
Lastly, all of them are sought by the authorities that control Dol-Makjar for a variety of reasons, making staying in the city no longer safe:
- The rogue and Kattigan are notorious outlaws.
- Tyranny and The healer turned against the influential house and the legion of demons they are aligned with.
- Teor is wanted dead by the family.
This results in them little choice but to journey toward the remote area in search of the antagonist.
Upcoming Developments
Based on episode three’s post-show segment, we learn that the combat party won’t be around next week, leaving the rest of the participants to assemble the Seekers and Planners groups.
