It's a challenge for Australia to achieve unprecedented feats.

The greatest achievements have already been conquered.

We're talking about the unit that has claimed seven Cricket World Cups, plus six more T20 titles, and once went 1,294 days undefeated in 50-over cricket.

The remaining milestones, those for the achievement hunters, are all that remain for a squad that has won it all.

The fact it required as late as Sunday's three-wicket win over India for them to complete their first ODI chase above 300, taking back their record for the biggest in women's cricket's 50-over format, is, frankly, a testament to the bowlers that have sported the yellow jersey over the past 50 years.

It's challenging for their hitters to possess a record if not provided the opportunity.

Ultimately, the consequence of Australia conceding 330 was skipper Alyssa Healy receiving an opportunity to deliver her most recent brilliance.

Initially recognized as the 19-year-old niece of famous ex Aussie wicketkeeper Ian, she made her debut in 2010 after Australia couldn't capture either of the T20 or ODI World Cups conducted earlier and has witnessed all through 15 championship-filled years since.

A T20 World Cup win happened three months after her bow and seven world titles have come from 10 tries across formats.

The gritty keeper was also there in Derby in 2017 when a semi-final defeat by India temporarily stopped the run of success.

That loss "drove us to reconsider our benchmarks," Healy commented earlier.

At the subsequent ODI World Cup in New Zealand, Healy scored 170 against England in the championship match and was awarded tournament MVP. She guaranteed her country would not come up short.

The question of whether this newest brilliant performance surpassed that earlier display can be debated.

Some will argue the case for final game tension. Different voices suggest with the difficulty that comes when pursuing an unprecedented total and a loud pro-India audience of 20,000.

What's clear is this ton was much more difficult to anticipate.

The Christchurch carnage in 2022 happened while she topped the run-scoring charts, but this performance followed six innings in India since the start of last month in which she had failed to pass 30.

"For those following me in practice sessions, it has been a disappointing period because it appeared my form was missing at all," commented Healy.

"Yet the moment you step out on the field, your competitive nature take over and you completely engage with the contest."

Healy's fighting spirit has consistently been her major advantage - and an irreplaceable characteristic in succeeding iconic ex-skipper Meg Lanning.

She was challenged by India's emerging talent Kranti Gaud in last month's ODI series, fallen to the 22-year-old seamer in all three matches, but here that only provided Healy's inspiration.

One run resulted off the bowler's initial ball and after that Healy was underway.

"The possibility to take the field and lock in a contest with her and merely enjoy the moment in that aspect, sort of got me going," commented Healy.

She got to fifty in 35 balls - her swiftest at a World Cup - and her century in 84 balls as she punished short deliveries, striking 21 boundaries and three big hits.

Once she was dismissed her side required another 66 at a run-a-ball - a manageable total now requiring a leisurely stroll.

"To chase 330 is unfamiliar ground so I'm pleased we have the belief to accomplish that now," stated Healy further.

"Preferably we shouldn't have to do it another time but, if we do, we know we can achieve it."

That comment will be the ultimate thing Australia's opponents at this tournament want to hear.

During the last week a feeling they will triumph from any situation has become more firm - this victory following victory over Pakistan by 107 runs despite struggling at 76-7 at one point.

Subsequently Australia meet Bangladesh before a meeting with old rivals England in Indore in a week and a half, by which point a semi-final berth may probably be guaranteed.

It was in the semi-finals they left the previous year's T20 World Cup in a surprising setback by South Africa - a game Healy was absent due to damaged tissue in her foot as she guided Australia for the initial instance at an important competition.

So great is her will, she afterwards commented she wished she had played despite the injury.

Yet even as she later admitted those fitness problems have delayed consideration of ending her career, this tournament is anticipated as her final tournament as skipper in ODI cricket and she is hasn't yet secured a global event as skipper.

Triumph in India would take her to the summit of her last major obstacle.
