Slot Asserts He Feels Safe and Has The Club's Backing After PSV Humiliation

The Liverpool head coach acknowledged that it's understandable for concerns to be raised about his position following another heavy loss versus the Dutch champions.

The Reds suffered their 9th defeat in 12 matches, representing the club's worst streak since being demoted in 1953-54.

They were dominated by the Eredivisie champions on a tough evening at their home ground.

“I'm confident, I am OK, I have got significant support from the top,” Slot stated.

“It would be nice to turn it around and get a victory obviously but if you are in a managerial role and underperforming then it's expected that doubts arise.”

He continued, “I'm comfortable with my role. It is not the first time I’ve been in a difficult position but it's necessary that we changed our fortunes.”

Talks with Club Management

When asked to expand on his conversations with the team officials, Slot said:

“We talk a lot. They are supportive to the team and for me and we discuss these matters but they don't phone me constantly each day to say they have faith in me.”

He further stated, “Through standard discussions I feel the belief. But I've not talked to them after this match so far so it remains to be seen.”

Persistent Issues and Player Response

The manager lamented familiar shortcomings from his squad in their European loss, namely wasted chances and leaking goals.

Meanwhile, player Jones was more forthright in his view of the current crisis.

“I haven't got the answers. Frankly, I do not. I’m saying that to everybody,” Jones stated.

“It is unacceptable. I don't need to wait to reflect. I’m past feeling anger internally. I’m at the point currently where I simply lack the words.”

He went on, “It's difficult because I’m playing for the club I love. I’m a fan, and I've watched Liverpool for years.”

“For many years, I haven’t experienced a Reds side enduring a phase like this with outcomes like these.”

Jones concluded, “However we continue to wear that badge on our shirts. And as long as it is removed, we'll continue to compete.”

“Our aim is to help the side return to the top, demonstrate to all again the values of this club and why people call it the best team in the world.”

“However currently, we're in trouble and we have to turn it around.”
