I'll dominate 'legitimate combatant' Jake Paul - Anthony Joshua
The British boxer will face the American YouTuber in an eight-round contest which will be streamed in real-time on Netflix.
British boxer Anthony Joshua said he will "overwhelm entirely" the American and "break" the American as the two fighters met personally to build hype for the upcoming bout.
Former two time unified boxing king Anthony Joshua faces social media star turned fighter Jake Paul - in what is, by the numbers, a massive uneven pairing - at Miami Kaseya Center on December 19th.
Boxer's Mentality
"I will damage his features and break his body up. I aim to demonstrate I'm the better fighter," Joshua, 35 years old, declared.
"I'll stamp all over him. That's the boxer's mindset.
"I'm going to really want to cause him pain. That's what I want to do."
Respectful Interaction
In spite of these statements, a composed Joshua and social media star Paul - typically recognized for his showmanship - were respectful and kept it respectful with each other.
Paul instead attacked ex Joshua opponent Francis Ngannou and described him as "a joke" after Ngannou declined a fight offer.
Targeting Tyson Fury
Joshua, meanwhile, targeted UK rival Fury - and declined a £1m bet 'Tyson Fury' says he will place on a Paul victory.
"Jake Paul is better than Tyson Fury - he showed up," the boxer commented.
"I respect him for that."
Serious Opponent
Despite saying he intends to damage his opponent, Anthony Joshua declined to comment unfavorably about his rival's pugilistic talent.
"Jake Paul is a credible opponent," he said.
Paul's History
Paul - who originally gained popularity on the Disney Channel - has primarily boxed mixed martial artists or past-their-prime fighters since turning professional.
He lost to British fighter Fury in 2023.
Commercial Success
Still, the novice continues to be one of the sport's greatest money-making draws, consistently making substantial paydays.
Forecast and Confidence
The 28-year-old anticipated a stoppage in the fourth or fifth round and asserted he would stop the long-awaited Fury-Joshua bout, which is reportedly in the works for two years from now.
"It will be myself against Tyson Fury next year," Paul stated.
Size Difference
As the two fighters met for the usual face-off, with their height and weight contrast evident, it drove home just how surprising this entire matchup is - and how remarkable it is that the fight is truly happening.
