Former BBC Consultants Participate in MPs' Inquiry Following Assertions of Bias in Leaked Document
We begin with inquiries from Conservative lawmaker the committee chair, that leads the group.
She opens by offering background to the leaked memorandum prepared by Michael Prescott and published in a daily publication.
"It is not my wish for the BBC leaning this way or that way, My only wish is for it balanced, impartial and just," he states.
In response to a query if he considers the BBC is institutionally biased, he responds: "Absolutely not. Let's be clear, a great deal the British Broadcasting Corporation does is world class - both factual and fictional programming."
However, he continues: "There exists significant effort that needs to be done at the British Broadcasting Corporation."
A further ex-adviser British Broadcasting Corporation adviser questioned by the committee, Caroline Daniel, states she takes the BBC extremely earnestly and that it maintains a "ongoing system and lively discussion" across fluid and multifaceted topics.
"Whether the BBC was prepared to conduct a thorough discussion and exchange and implement changes?" she reflects. "As I see it, affirmative, they were."
